Gotta Love Spring

All spring sports are in full swing. Abbi's swimming has started back up too, no meets yet. They sure know how to keep us on our toes.

Birthdays

I know it has been a while, we have all been very busy. Gabe's show choir took a trip to Minn. to perform. We got to spend some time with his godparents, Al & Lisa. We had a blast. The kids had thier birthdays, filled with to much cake. For Gabe's birthday, he was at a competition in Cedar Rapids where they won grand champion. His good friends Adam & Ally brought him a birthday cake big enough for all the show choir kids to enjoy!

Central CSI

Tiff got some video of the Central Singers Inc a couple weeks back, it's my first attempt at using Adobe Video Elements version 7, it's a little grainy, have not figured out all the quirks to the program, it's a lot more complex than using Windows Movie Maker. You can see Gabe in the middle of the video standing still and singing. This was shot at the high school, performing in front of the student body. They head to Minneapolis next weekend, then Cedar Rapids after that to conclude the 2009 season. Scroll down to turn off the music on the slideshow before playing video, hit the speaker on the slideshow to mute the music.

Iowa Swimming Regional Finals

Abbi had a very busy and exciting weekend. She was determined to get a qualifying time to be able to continue on to compete at State (what they are refering to as Junior Olympics). She was in 8 events total over the weekend, swimming in 4 events on Sat and 4 events on Sun. She started off with the 50Freestyle, which she got 2nd in her heat (the six that race at one time), and 8th place overall. Then onto 100 backstroke, which she got 1st in her heat, 3rd place overall. Then she swam the 100 IM (which is 25 each of butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, & freestyle) and came in 1st in her heat, 3rd place overall. Then her coaches put her in a 200 Freestyle Relay Race which thier group of 4 came in 1st in thier heat, and placed 1st overall.

Then Sunday morning she got up early to do it all over again. Starting with the 50 Backstroke taking 1st in her heat, 2nd place overall. Then swimming breaststroke, then 100 Freestyle taking 3rd in her heat, 7th place overall. Then again swimming in a relay, 200 Freestyle, which her group came in 2nd place in thier heat and 2nd place overall. We are all so very proud of her. She walked away with 4 medals and 3 ribbons along with 2 State qualifying times. She will be heading up to Cedar Rapids this Saturday.

Blue Devil Snuggie

This was a hit at the Central Cake auction this last Friday. I made this and a pillow to go along with our cake for show chior. The package went for $75, so I thought that was cool.
